Accountants

Its an exciting time for us Accountants– We’re officially half way through the financial year – what have you achieved? Are you ahead or behind where you wanted to be? What is working, what isn’t? Accountants are about accountability – set a goal, plan the steps, tick ’em off. Get us involved, you might be surprised what you can achieve.

Cruising the internet because you can’t sleep isn’t great for you, but in doing so I recently came across a good read. Here’s a post from our Aussie partners-in-crime RBK Advisory on some simple, but thought provoking stuff https://rbkadvisory.com.au/5-common-mistakes-startup-businesses-make/
If you’re contemplating a trans-tasman jump, let us put you in touch with the Aussie version of us. They’re good buggers, albeit Australians.

GST

Usual spiel – GST time again, this time for all! Can you please have your Xero reconciled up to date by Wednesday the 3rd of August? If you’re still dragging the chain come Friday, we’ll give you a hurry up.

Xero Tip – Transactions report

You might have noticed a few new vs old reports popping up in Xero over the last while, if you haven’t then get in and check them out. Yes, change can be hard, however these reports allow you to slice and dice your data in so many more ways, so much quicker.
One of our favourite additions to the new style of reports came out this month – a running balance in the ‘Account Transactions’ report. This is a massive time-saver for us, often eliminating the need to export to excel. See how to get amongst it here https://central.xero.com/s/article/Account-Transactions-report-New

Check out our last blog post for another helpful Xero tip.

We’re Sorry

You’ll likely have received a few emails from Tom and Cam about an “Audit Shield Master Policy”. While for some of you in business, at the right time, accounting audit insurance is a very valuable product. However, we’re really disappointed in the way this has been delivered to you. The emails were not in line with our brand as accountants and not what you signed up to when you backed us to back you. We’ll not be rolling it out like this again, but will continue to offer the product to clients who want it.

Corporate Challenge CHALLENGE

As per last email – Beat us with your team and we’ll knock $1,000 off your accounting fees, or give you $1,000 of business advisory – the choice is yours.

As always, give us a whistle and we’ll be there!
Your Outside team, and Ruby
